Patrice has been interested and involved with many creative mediums over her life, but none-
as challenging or rewarding as Hot Glass. As a child, she showed an artistic talent that led her
grandparents to enroll her into a private art class. She took formal oil painting classes for
many years until her teacher moved. It was at this point that she branched out and started
trying other mediums. She has worked in clay, metals, textiles, made jewelry, woven fabric,
painted in a variety of mediums the list goes on and on, but she had always wanted to work
with glass. It wasn’t until Patrice was in her 40’s, and quite by accident, that she fell into
learning the art of Lampwork. She thought she was taking a class to learn how to Blow Glass,
but instead it was a Lampwork class. One day was all it took to get her hooked!
Patrice specializes in heavy relief beads,
mostly of flowers, but also does sculptural
mermaids, animals and marine life.
Perhaps it was because of her experience
with a variety of different mediums prior to
working with glass, that this execution of
design came relatively easy for her. She
has won several awards, both local and
national within the first couple of years
working with glass.
After relocating to central California, Patrice
has recently reestablished her studio and is
working with glass again. While she enjoys
the many challenges that come with working
with hot glass, her latest challenge is
learning to work with the absence of color,
using texture only to achieve design through
the process of glass etching. Come back to

exciting designs by Patrice. She can also be
found in the 2004 publication of 1000 Glass
Beads by Lark Books.
